Day 14 -- John's Hopkins and friends from years gone by

After a morning of touring around old backroads in Bel Air and working on the RV in preparation for our beginning to drive long hauls again, we headed toward downtown Baltimore to visit the John's Hopkins hospital where Joe did his pathology residency.

Although in a very dangerous part of town, Hopkins is a beautiful building with the old original hospital surrounded by newer and newer buildings. It is steeped in history and is one of the top hospitals in the nation.

Joe enjoyed showing us all over his old haunt and was delighted to be welcomed by his past teachers and coworkers alike.

As a chief resident, Joe's picture is one of many that line the halls. This was a tremendous learning experience for him and he loved his time here

Finally, this evening we were again privileged to share dinner with long time friends and meaningful adopted "family" including Grandma Barbara whom we adopted during our time living here. With no grandchildren of her own, she was the only person in the church nursery who would happily take our crying Isaac off our hands :-) She adored him then, and still does! Here she is taking a turn on the swing having a conversation with Sis.

I love this picture! We are laughing over who knows what?! Barbara is a hoot to be around. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner and delicious dessert over conversation and memories.

Our old babysitter (now a mommy herself!) was a delight to catch up with and, of course, our hostess (a close friend for years now) blessed us with her tremendous gift of hospitality. God is so good to give us the gift of friendship. I am so so thankful .....

These kids, other than Isabelle, grew up side by side for 4 years. Isaac and Josh (the tallest one!) are only a couple of months apart in age and really enjoyed the evening shooting hoops and playing Madden football. Josiah and Liz have similar law aspirations.

It has been such a blessing to reconnect with friends from years gone by. We will miss being so far away from them as we begin our trek westward and . . . home.

  2. Joe...
Once you get the RV toilet fixed, could you swing by the Federal Reserve and bring me back some of my money? ;-)
