Day 13 -- the boys in D.C.

The boys had a really great final day in D.C. and covered twice as much ground without the girls tagging along and with the cooler weather.

They visited the Washington monument at the far end of the mall.

A highlight (and the one thing I was sorry to miss) was visiting Arlington National Cemetery and seeing the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier.

This is a sober and awe-inspiring place. Joe, being retired military, is always very moved at the sight of these grave markers.

They took the long walk to see the Lincoln Memorial in person.

And also walked past the White House! Pretty amazing!!

The new WWII memorial is especially significant after our study of WWII in history last year. It is such a blessing to bring history to life in these ways. We praise God again and again for this opportunity.
