Day 7 -- The Creation Museum

We just left a 5 hour visit to the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Kentucky. This was an excellent investment of time and money; and one of the few stops that we had researched prior to coming (we have a DVD tour of the museum for anyone local interested in borrowing it).

The museum is HUGE and very, very well done. I would challenge any unbeliever to arrive, read through all the exhibits, watch the well-done and short educational video films throughout, and not leave very much convicted, if not convinced of our Creator and His creative work.

Although there are some tremendous specimens and fossils throughout, particularly of dinosaurs, the focus and goal of the museum is to bring you back to the Bible and to the importance of believing and living out your faith in God's Word.

There are several live animals within the museum, including this adorable chameleon which we enjoyed watching as he tried in vain to climb the glass.

Every exhibit has either audio or visual material to dispel the myth of evolution and bring you to a better understanding of God's creation.

Of course, it also has some fun exhibits as well including ride-on triceratops, a petting zoo, and camel rides.

Isabelle and I decided to get up close and personal with the camel "Gomer" who's fur was very soft but who's hump was not :-)

The museum hosts a beautiful botanical gardens with a wide variety of plants, including some spectacular bulb gardens. The restaurant in the museum, overlooking the gardens, served real food! I enjoyed a huge salad which would have made Adam and Eve proud :-)

The exhibits are fascinating and we could have easily spent a few more hours if we had had a more mature 9 year old (there is a tremendous amount of reading to be done in order to fully take everything in).

From the cosmos to dealing with sin in today's culture as a result of the fall, the Creation Museum is a safe place to bring your family, strengthen your faith, and educate you further in Creation Science.

It is hard to believe that this small, unassuming entrance brings you to such a gem. Praise God for Ken Ham and the vision he and his colleagues had to bring this to fruition! If you can all make it happen, this is worth the expense and the travel to get here.

  1. What a fabulous place to visit! We're so glad you got a chance to experience this "gem". The look on your face with that camel is priceless, as well as Isabelle's with the T-Rex...what a hoot! Looking forward to your next adventure. The Price Family
